Maurice Cockrill

Maurice Cockrill (b 1936) Born in Hartlepool, County Durham; studied at Wrexham School of Art (1960) and Reading University (1961-64); received Arts Council of Great Britain awards in 1977 and 1979; received a British Council award in 1985; shortlisted for the Jerwood Painting Prize in 1994; elected RA in 1999; painter, poet and teacher (Liverpool College of Art and Liverpool Polytechnic, Manchester, Portsmouth, Farnham, Winchester and Nottingham Schools of Art, RCA, London, Central and St Martin's Schools of Art, London, GOFA University of NSW, Australia and RA Schools, London)
