Gwilym Pritchard
Born in Llanystumdwy, near Criccieth, in 1931, Gwilym Prichard has become one of Wales’ most fondly admired and respected artists. His dramatic and colourful landscape paintings of North Wales and the Pembrokeshire coastline, often painted using a palette-knife, are reminiscent of his great friend, the late Sir Kyffin Williams’, work. Indeed, Gwilym has often been described, with more than a hint of truth, as ‘Kyffin with colour’. Whether he is painting Cader Idris bathed in sunlight, or Tenby harbour on a summer’s evening, these glowing paintings communicate his love of the Welsh landscape with vision and integrity
